Psychedelics for Recovery from Traumatic Brain Injury

Victor Pablo Acero is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He is developing a tissue engineered in vitro model of hippocampal astrocyte-neuron networks. He plans to use this in vitro models to explore the effects and mode of action for novel and atypical psychedelic compounds, such as Salvinorin A. He plans to explore the effects of psychedelics on astrocytes, and how astrocytes might mediate the effects seen on neuronal cells.
